Those who say that …
Those who say that they can learn speak in any foreign language FLUNETLY just within few weeks of learning are talking NONSENCE. I’ve been learning english by myself since 6 years old and yet after all those 10-11 years I still can’t get all the details, understand all words. My opinion is this: you can learn a foreign language within few years but if you want to speak in any language FLUENTLY, you must have a lot of experience with foreigners or you must have lived in that foreign country.

You know that you are right in a way, but statistically speaking, in 22 weeks you can learn enough to learn anything new based on context. That is what the online sources state, anyway. I’m still learning regular verb conjugations (subjunctive is weird)

Pimsleur is a great …
Pimsleur is a great program to develop listening and speaking skills, and also to learn a portion of a language.
I’m going to Chile to immerse myself. It is a study abroad program at my university. I would go with other students, but live in a Host Family that only speaks spanish

Oh that is awesome that you have a bunch of friends that speak it, that is the best way to go.
I’m just learning on my own. Mainly doing Pimsleur right now. It is just crazy though how fast some speakers speak.
I took Spanish back in Junior High School a long time ago and didn’t learn anything there! Didn’t have a good teacher.
I’ll be going to Chile this summer though to “immerse” myself.
Take advantage of those friends!

Haha, I’ve been learning for three months, and just for a warning, if you are just starting out (maybe you are not) it will feel like you are learning a TON and know a bunch, but then you go down to the nearest Mexican Grocer and realize you don’t know anything haha.
