Learning a language like English or Spanish when you are an adult is different for everyone and you might not know the right resources to help you with it. You might have a full-time job which you have to learn around or do not know where to find the nearest teaching centre. There are so many ways to learn English or Spanish, so do not panic. You could visit your local college for group classes or use an independent teacher for private tuition. In countries where English is not the first language you can find English nationals teaching English as a second or foreign language at state schools and private classes. So for those whose national tongue is not English, there are so many ways to learn in your native country. You will even be able to fit the learning around your day job with useful night classes.
In A Classroom
You do not have to attend just an ESL course if you want o learn English or another language. Anyone can enrol in either English or Spanish classes at a community college, or a fully accredited college/university. Being around others who are also trying to master a new language can be useful in finding a solid support or study group. Also, if you learn in a classroom each time you advance on to a higher level you will feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment.
Independent Studying
If there are no formal classes that suit your needs you can choose to learn independently. You can use audio CDs which can use in the car or as you lie in the bath and these have a number of levels so you can use them to become fluent. If time is a concern, audio and textual materials are a great option. you can learn at a time that suits you and at your own pace whilst not missing out on anything you would have learnt in the classroom.
You can look in news papers and on advertising boards for cheap study groups that help you to learn a foreign language in a casual setting. You can help each other to learn the language and meet socially in coffee shops and similar places. If finances allow, you could use someone teaching English as a second or foreign language to teach you in private lessons.
