Since all the Spanish people here refuse to speak english around us non spanish speakers. I think the USA goverment should provide free of charge lessons for all who want to learn the Spanish language since it is our second language here.
People already receive free foreign language lessons in high school. It’s their choice if they would like to continue their education with a foreign language in college or privately.
It would be nice if the option of free foreign language lessons for working adults was available, but that is how the free market economy/society which the US is so gung-ho about works….. If people in the US don’t wish to learn a foreign language, they’re free to make that choice. And that’s fine by me. It means less competition in the new emerging global economy.
Think about it. Being bilingual in any two languages automatically gives you an advantage over someone who only speaks one. If people don’t want to stay competitive, that’s their choice.

So you’re saying give them more free handouts?
It has been made mandatory that they learn English and it pisses me of to the extreme when someone in a proffesion plays dumb and pretends they can’t speak English.
I don’t think they shuold get it free but those who go through the system should be made to take English classes.

Absolutely NOT.
When I was in college, I had to take a foreign language. I had many options. I chose sign language. Why?
"Hello! Welcome to America! You speak German? Perfect, you can learn to speak English, the language of this country!"
"Hello! Welcome to America! You speak Italian? Perfect, you can learn to speak English, the language of this country!"
"Hello! Welcome to America! You speak Japanese? Perfect, you can learn to speak English, the language of this country!"
"Hello! Welcome to America! You speak Spanish? Perfect, you can learn to speak English, the language of this country!"
Doesn’t work so well for people who can’t speak or can’t hear (depending on the level of their situation).
Welcome to America. We speak English here. Every race who ever came here, in general, has integrated and learned the local language. Why the <blank> should we tolerate this hispanic influx who have no intentions of integrating and learning the local language?

I would venture to say that 99% of americans are offered free Spanish lessons in highschool. Also Spanish lessons are available for free on Itunes.
And why would you think that people should change the way they speak just ’cause you’re around. Sounds a little self-centered to me.

No, I don’t think we should have to learn spanish. Seems how the national language is still English last time I checked. It should be and is an option for people to learn spanish. If the spanish speakers can’t speak and refuse to speak english then why are they in an english speaking country? If we were to go to mexico they would make us speak spanish, they wouldn’t learn english so they could talk to us.

Do you think the USA should provide free Spanish language lessons to all of it’s citizens? Yes, learning a second language is good for everyone. USA goverment should analyze which language is more needed / useful for USA people and see that a good curriculum is implemented at public schools. This and other languages should be available as elective courses as resources and demand permits.

No, but if you write "it’s" when you mean "its" I think the USA should provide free English lessons.

I think thats a great idea, a great idea that has already happened. Hace doce anos q yo estudio espanol en escuela. I’m a senior and have been taking spanish since kindergarten. Spanish classes are already available for free for students in public school, which i think is a great idea. y pa’los adultos creo q no deban tener clase gratis del gobierno. They’re grown they should pay for their own spanish classes. Everyone thinks that everything should be provided by the government and that is bullshit. Maybe people should work hard in their job and then afford their own spanish lessons. No quiero pagar por clases pa’ otras personas. lo estaria mierda de toro
If your out of school you can learn it yourself, as far as free english lessons, that may be an okay thing so that we can preserve our main language, english, and not change for the immigrants.

No ofense but most people from US don’t even try to speak Spanish when they’re visiting any South American country (except Brasil of course), they just assume we can speak English so……………………….
